What is the Meta-Governance Grants application form?

The Meta-Governance Grants application form is a process where applicants can submit their project to be considered for grant funding. The Meta-Governance Working Group supports projects related to DAO tooling, governance, sponsorships, and other activities related to ENS governance.

ENS stands for Ethereum Name Service. Instead of using a generated wallet address, you can create and save a username (known as an ENS Domain), store an avatar and other profile data to use across EVM-supported services. To learn more about ENS, visit their website: https://ens.domains/
 

What is the Meta-Governance Working Group?

The Meta-Governance Working Group is a subgroup of ENS working groups responsible for overseeing the governance of the ENS DAO and supporting management of its working groups.

How did MGWG use DeForm to create their grant application form?

MGWG customized their DeForm using various elements. In this screenshot, you’ll see a custom avatar, title & description, wallet connect, short question, and link (project website) url questions.

MGWG used DeForm to create their Meta-Governance Grants application form. In the above screenshot, you’ll notice that the form was customized with the following:
  • Form avatar to show off recognizable branding.
  • Customized title and description so applicants know what the form is for.
  • Wallet Connect is enabled to verify ownership.
  • Short text question to collect Project Name.
  • Link question used to collect Project Website URL.
Let’s take a look at the next part of the form and explore some of the other features that were used in the creation of this form.
 
On this section of the form, you’ll notice the usage of short answer questions, long answer questions, and multiselect questions using DeForm.

In the above screenshot, MGWG used a combination of the following:
  • Short text question to collect the Twitter username tied to the applicant’s project.
  • Long text question to inquire about what type of service/product the project provides.
  • Single select multiple choice question to determine what type of funding the applicant is seeking.
Let’s take a look at some of the other ways MGWG used additional features to create their form!
 
A long text question was used to inquire about the applicant’s name, telegram handle, along with any other team members to be included in communications. A short text question was used here to ask if anyone associated with MGWG or ENS DAO referred the applicant. A reCAPTCHA was also used as a bot-prevention method.

In the final part of the Meta-Governance Grants application, the following features were used:
  • Long text question to collect applicant’s Point of Contact.
  • Short text question (optional to answer) inquiring if the applicant has been referred by anyone associated with MGWG.
  • reCAPTCHA to ensure that the applicant is human and not a bot.
